It’s beginning to smell a lot like Christmas in my apartment… It’s that time of the year, the time to indulge in fabulous holiday treats!
2020 has been a challenging year and I often find myself seeking out comfort food. To me, festive bakes that exudes the scent of warm citrusy spices provides the kind of comfort well enough to cheer the heart. So I’m really excited about all these holiday bakes!
In this season of gifting, I’ll be opening orders for Christmas Tea Boxes that features a variety of festive baked goods from my kitchen.
CHRISTMAS TEA BOX MENU
Snowy Stollen Scone
No tea box is complete without scones. These “snow-covered” scones are every bit festive. Bursting with warm winter spices, nuts, marzipan, dried fruits of cranberries, currants, raisins, sultanas and candied orange peels, plumped up nice and juicy in dark rum and grand marnier. Taste just like stollen in a soft scone form – is perfect with a hot cup of tea.
Chocolate Sour Cherry Scone
Well, there has to be something dedicated to chocolate. Dark chocolate scone adorned with chocolate chips and dried sour cherries – tender and so decadent. With a blanket of glossy bittersweet chocolate glaze and glamoured up with gold embellishments, this is a shining star in the box.
Sticky Figgy Pudding
A spin on the beloved sticky date pudding. Dried figs and medjool dates steeped in French earl grey tea that imparts a hint of bergamot with an interesting texture from the figs. The use of dark muscovado sugar adds richness and moisture with notes of caramel and toffee. The puddings are brought to another level with shavings of Valrhona 68% Nyangbo feves. The role of the chocolate is not to make it chocolatey but rather to add a little darkness and depth to the puddings. Dressed in sticky toffee sauce laced with citrusy grand marnier, this is one truly comforting treat. Wonderful served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or just a side of softly whipped cream.
Chocolate Chip Walnut Snowballs
Some call it Russian Tea Cakes, Mexican Wedding Cookies or Polvorones, these are special occasion cookies often served during Christmas. The addition of Callebaut Mini Chocolate Chips turned these cookies into a bit of a hybrid – chocolate chip cookies in snowball form. With a delicate melt-in-your-mouth soft crumb, many find it impossible to stop at one.
